Cover You

Morning Musume’s new album called Cover You is to be released in tweo days. But I was able to get my hands on it before hand with a complete review for you to read, if you want. =D

1. Nagisa no Sindibad: This isn’t the first time that Hello! Project has covered this song. The W (double U) group has covered this with a bit more zip in my opinion. When I first heard a preview of this song it didn’t catch me as much as the W one did. But it sticks more to the original. If you like that then this song if for you. Members that stick out: Niigaki, Takahashi
2. Dou ni mo Tomaranai: Sticking with a W theme here this song is the lost W song. I enjoy this song and find it as a good follow up. It has a nice flow.  This has to be one of the only songs that you can actually tell that Mitsui Aika and Tanaka Reina have lines in this album.
3. Izakaya: This brings the album down to a smooth mellow feeling. it has a good flow of Takahashi and the guest singer Itsuki Hiroshi. If you like an enka like song then you will enjoy this one. And even though Ai is not one of my favorites she has a very soothing voice in this song.

4. Pepper Keibu （ＡＬＢＵＭ　Ｖｅｒ．）: This “album version” is not that longer or special to the original in any way. Unlike on the last album where Egao Yes Nude had added singer and features in it. This album version doesn’t contain any changing in the song it self. Only a soft, barely auditable piano track at the end of the song. If you like the single then you won’t mind it all too much.
5. Shiroi Chou no Samba: Linlin and Junjun fans of the world unite. If there is any a song you listen to and go “Hey is that Linlin and Junjun?” ever in your life it is in this song. This song is a soft blend of pure awesome and amazing-ness in one. Niigaki and Eri mixes are really cool. This song is very attractive for this album.
6. Seishun Jidai: This song has a good amount of Eri and Reina I believe. Reina has changed up her voice so much for this album I can’t tell it apart from her soft times to her deeper voice. This is also your first real inkling of Sayumi in this album. I don’t know much to say about this song. It is apparent to be a filler and it sounds like a 6th generation song truly.
7. Ringo Satsujin Jiken: Can you say congo?! The lighter voices come out in this song; Sayumi, Koharu, and Linlin are pretty apparent in the chorus. Everyone’s solo parts are pretty apparent but Mitsui. Which I find upsetting because she is my favorite member.  This is lounge singer type of song very much.
8. Romance （ＡＬＢＵＭ　Ｖｅｒ．): Much like the Pepper Keibu album version there is only a small melody at the end of this song. When I first heard this song I didn’t like it as much. But I have to say it has grown on me. I like it a lot more now then I did before. I noticed I liked it as I hummed it down the hall today. lol Pretty even blend of voices here I say. Not a lot of Mitsui though.
9. Machi no Hikari: This song is only sung by Niigaki and Takahashi. It slows down the album here as well. I find this song kind of boring and “blah” like throughout the whole song. I like Risa and Ai soft voices but it kind of makes me skip it the whole time.
10. Koi no Dial ６７００: You want the best song on this album? Here you go. This song is like crack! From the start of Sayumi‘s monolouge to the big band opening. Linlin‘s lines to start off the tone. It flows so well and is oh-so-catchy. There is a fair blend of voices as well as some amazingly, awesome lines in the latter part of the song provided by the lovely Miss Kamei Eri. This song is just great. Even Koharu‘s retarded lines don’t phase me. I even hear Mitsui in this song once. This song just needs to go on forever!
11. Pinponpan Taisou: This song is sung by everyone but Niigaki and Takahashi. And that makes it okay for Koharu to sound retarded? I think not. But it has never stopped her before now has it? Mitsui has a talking line which if you don’t know Mitsui‘s voice very well will be the only time you will really hear in this album. Koharu takes over this song which makes it somewhat annoying but an okay follow up song from 6700.
12. Watashi no Aoi Tori: When I listen to this song all I think about is like sparkles. It starts off with Eri I believe, or Takahashi. Which any good song would start with Eri. It then goes to Niigaki with more soft lines. This song it very lull in type. I believe Linlin and Junjun do back up for this song which is a shame. It’s a very smoother song.

13. Johnny e no Dengen: This song is like a Furusato to me. It’s basically Niigaki and back ups of Kamei and Tanaka. Which isn’t so back if your a Niigaki fan. But by now this type of song is over played and I am annoyed with the type. Have her the main is sort of like a short cut for fans because there is like no other members and we have heard a lot of Niigaki this album.
14. ＵＦＯ: This is the last song and I personally think that they could have picked a better song to end on. It is an okay song but maybe if they covered a song like SOS I would have been more interested in it. I just find the song over

I found this album an enjoyable part of the Musume collection. I have to say I was a bit surprised at the lack of Mitsui and the seemingly lack of Reina (She’s in there I know it). But more surprised with the over whelming presences of Linlin and Junjun used in this album. At all the right times too. This will for sure get them some fans in the long run.

Now I’m starting with best to worst. Or maybe it should be the Good, the bad and the ugly. But anyway this single is what H!P fans have been waiting for. A single that has good line distribution, a fairly wacky dance (the good kind), strange costumes, and a cool karaoke track. Now I don’t know if it is because Tsunku didn’t write it or maybe C-ute is the new power group. But whatever it is this single is the best single to come out this summer. The only problem I have with it is that it is too short. Now I don’t mean “Oh 2:31 is WAY too short for a single.” No, I mean this single is too short in that every member sounds amazing in it, even Saki. When I say too short I mean that it is too short in not showing off the talents of the girls. The B-side is more sugary pop which I would expect from Tsunku. But it is still a good enough song. You can really hear your secondary members in it.

Now I wouldn’t call this the bad. Maybe it’s the moderate. I personally love this song. And I can see why some people don’t like it because it makes Berryz too kid like. But I love the dance and I love song. But it can’t top the C-ute single. The line distribution is pretty fairly played out with Miyabi, Yurina, and Saki with the least amount of lines. But if there is only 1 reason to watch this PV it is for the monkey outfits.

Now we have the worst single out so far. Now I would like everyone to take into account that Kusumi has an anime voice and a Musume voice. This is for her anime show so anime voice is used. Which means that this single will totally suck ass. And I’m not saying that to be mean. But it’s true. This has to be the worst song in the history of Kusumi. I mean her early stuff was good, and I admit to having a liking to Chance! But this song draws a line that no human should cross unless they want there head shot off. I did not even bother to download this song because I know I’d put it on my ipod and forget about then one day at school I’ll be sent to the office for disorderly conduct.  If you like the screaming Kusumi this song is all for you. But if you want a song that is actually sung then don’t even bother to waste the time to watch the PV.

In the end if you want a cool PV and amazing single go for C-ute for this one. Even spacey Airi makes herself look alive in this one. A cute PV and a catchy song go looking for Yuke Yuke monkey dance by Berryz. And if you want to hear a 16 year old girl scream at you in a too high pitched for her song then you should be shot, kidding~! If you like Kusumi you’ll like Pancake. If you don’t you’ll hate her even more. If you are a H!P fan in general I suggest switching to AKB48. There yummy~! lol

1: Okay sweet, this is pretty normal. OMG Mitsui! Amazing hair. Oh she pointed at me. Oh Mitsui you rock my socks!
By this time I was ready for an amazing music video. I was ready for a dark dance shot with some cute close ups from my favorite members. I could tell this was a Reina and Ai main song. So I was ready for the pain.

2: Oh Mitsui where are you going? Linlin and Junjun too? Oh black and White. This hasn’t been done since Roman Dear my Boy. I love that song. Is that sand at the bottom. Oh dam there is Ai, Reina, and Koharu.

This is where I started to get a tid bit upset. Okay I know we all love Koharu, Ai, and Reina but dammit! I mean come on! I was ready for close ups though. Come on Mitsui close up!

3: Okay Koharu to Reina then Koharu to Ai. Kinda reminds me of the duets in KT. Reina, Ai, and Koharu doing retard pump dance okay. Oh I see you Mitsui my dear in the background!

Thoughts going on right now are “Humm where are the close ups” I fear not they should be coming soon. I mean it’s not all gonna be all close ups of Ai, Reina, and Koharu dancing shot thing right? WRONG!

4: Oh my word. More Koharu pointing. What is it with this chick? Honestly. Oh there was soming dancing of Eri. Oh Ai solo didn’t see that one coming. <_<

Now by this point Risa and Eri have moved to the middle and singing which is nice to actually see someone aside from Ai, Reina, or Koharu (OMG thank you for jumping in front of Koharu) Also that everyone else is out of focus dancing in the back ground.

5: Oh Ai and Reina Yodal time! Yaya!!! PLEASE SOMEONE KILL ME!!!! Close up Ai, Close up Reina, Close up Ai, Close up Koharu, Close up Reina *dies*

We have Ai solo, Reina solo, Koharu solo. I really understand that these girls can sell Musume. But it’s only because they won’t let anyone else try. And I can feel your pain Reina.

6: Wow this is a pretty strange dance. Ai close up, Reina close up, Koharu close up, Ai close up repeat, repeat, repeat *dies again*
Now I would screen the rest of the main part of the song but it’s just the same as the other part. And there is only so much I can stand of Ai, Reina, and Koharu and this is already pushing it. Also these screens are picked because you can kinda sorta tell other members from them. Aika, Eri/Risa, and main?

7: Okay another Ai dances and everyone elses stands. hummm this PV sure sucks. Another main part same retard ass dancing. I wish W was still here.
Well the editor finally got some sense with some Risa and Eri love. And yes above is what I was thinking. Also that I plan to switch to AKB48 as my main Jpop band. Because Musume isn’t helping me change my mind any time soon. <_<

8: OMG is that some amazing Eri and Risa action? No I must be seeing things. Oh but I see we are mixing in my Special Generation Love. =D OMG I’ve never been so happy to see Sayumi in my life!!!
So turns out Sayumi had the only close up I had planned for. Wow this is a pretty sucky PV. I mean it’s not even that creative. Like Onna ni Sachi Are minus the gold and feathers plus black and sand.

I leave you with last strip which shows an amazing Aika in a Yunna like outfit and a sexy little Linlin. I wish Junjun and Linlin where shown more in this. I’m sad about that.

I wish someone could enlighten me on how such a group can sell one single and it sell more then a group that had been out 2 years ahead of them then go to such crap? Was Tokaikko Junjou just a ploy to get us to listen to C-ute. Because if it was it sure did work well. I mean I know I’m not the only one who was knocked on their butts when they first heard this song. Also many people thought of this was going to be the big song to over throw Berryz out of their H!P kids head lead, after the all too sad mistake of Tsukiatteru no ni Kataomoi. But that didn’t seem to be the case. I guess it only had to give it time to reach C-ute.

But I’m sure all artist have there lasps in the music world, I mean it is always changing in all. But I mean this is just sad. I have gotten a hold of a Radio Rip of a song (sung by Maimi and Airi) from the new C-ute album. And it’s not what I would call earth shattering. It sounds alot like it could be a recycled W song or something. Or something from the 1st C-ute album. I have to say that I am not really looking forward to this album if this is the kind of songs I am going to hear. The only thing I will look forward to on the album would have to be “Sweeeets→→→Live” by Chisato and Kanna. Only because they are my favorite C-ute members. And I am dread trying to sit through the Mai and Saki duet. (I’d rather have my brain removed through my ear with a spoon) Though “Dodongadon Ondo” looks like it would be pretty entertaining.

I have heard the radio rip for the new Musume single as well. I guess with Miki and Yossie gone they have to shove two girls down our throats and I guess we have picked them: Ai and Reina. My two worst Musume members. I mean come on! Would it kill for a little Junjun and Linlin love in a single? I bet half my life that the only really solo lines they get are one line and then a double line together. This is starting to piss me off. <<

Now that this single is finally out I will review it full opposed to my battering it took being compared to ‘Dschinghis Khan’. Now this single is a pretty decent one. I liked ‘Tokaikko Junjou’ in spite of having Airi as lead and a bad B-side. But this single really doesn’t come close. With a bad wardrobe and a repetitive song style it really lags behind the last single. Though the last one did sell more than any Berryz single did. But this single is decent enough if you just want a happy song to get you through the day, which I’ll admit some of us need right? Well this review will be based only on the single and not on the PV at all because I feel the PV pulls away from the single. *smiles*

1. LA LA LA Shiawase no Uta: Now this is single is really good when it is just the song. I think watching the PV adds a whole other aspect to a song. Like just hearing someones name and not taking it in until you meet them. (Does that make any sense to anyone besides me?) But just listening to it there is a whole new love for this song to me. I mean just listening to you feel like just dancing to it and having a good time.

2. Saikoukyuu no Enjoy GIRLS: This B-side is kinda meh. I mean it is a cute song. But the tempo is only ever so  slightly slower than La la la. It has this strange yodal thing going on in the middle of it which is kinda strange. But the line I enjoy is in the chores that went “Someday, Monday, and Tuesday girls” I think it’s pretty cute. Also I hear more Kanna and Chisato I think in this song. I hope it really is them and not some strange Airi warp I hear. But this still a pretty cute song. I like this one more than ‘Shiritsu Kyougaku’.

With that being said I am looking foreward to listening to the 3rd °C-ute album.  Also looking ahead I’m sure the “Berryz Koubou & C-ute Nakayoshi Battle Concert Tour 2008 Haru ~Berryz Kamen vs Cutie Ranger~” concert will be great too.
